GRANT WRITING TRAINING
The University of Mkar, Mkar Benue State-Nigeria in collaboration with the United States Fulbright Scholar Program conducted a two-day workshop between March 6th - 7th, 2019 on Grant Writing Training for all Academic Staff of the University of Mkar – a faculty staff development program – with Prof. Joseph I. Orban from the Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana United States of America as the Guest Speaker. Vice Chancellor of the University of Mkar, Prof. Iorwuese Dickson Gernah declared the workshop opened. He expressed delight for the privilege to have the esteemed Prof. Joseph I. Orban conduct this very important training program at the University. Prof. Gernah noted that, research is a vital component of the three fold essence of the University of Mkar, therefore, the Grant Writing Training Program was crucial in the bid towards establishing a robust research structure in the University. The Guest Speaker, Prof. Joseph I. Orban in his opening remarks emphasized the fact that Grant Writing was not a very exiting endeavour but stated that, those who endure the frustration would eventually secure the desired funding. The Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Director of Biomedical Research Development from Southern University Shreveport Louisiana USA has been serving as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar at the College of Health Science, Benue State University (BSU) since September 2018. The program is for 10 months involving lectures in various areas of Biomedical Sciences, including the training of University Faculty and Staff in Grant Writing.
