University of Mkar rose from her inaugural meeting of congregation yesterday with a vote of confidence in the vice chancellor of the institution professor iorwuese Dickson Gernah for his meritorious service to the university of Mkar as evidenced in the prompt payment of staff salaries, significant enhancement of university IGR, adequate maintenance of facilities and efficient staff - management relations among others. The meeting though statutory as enshrined in the university law, was the first in the university's over 12 years of existence. Membership of University congregation comprises all members of staff of the university with senate recognised university degrees and the body is by law allowed to hold meetings and discuss issues bordering on the development and progress of the university and also elect representatives to various statutory bodies within the governing and administrative structure of the university. Consequent upon the inauguration of Congregation by the Vice chancellor, elections were then conducted after several weeks of campaigns and winners emerged in the various capacities that were brought forward.
Responding on behalf of the newly elected representatives of congregation, Mr. Selumun Ipav appreciated congregation for the mandate given them, affirming its a call for service and reiterated their resolve not to disappoint congregation but prove themselves as worthy ambassadors in the various capacities they have been elected.
Earlier in his speech while inaugurating
congregation the V. C professor Iorwuese Dickson Gernah gave an update of his stewardship within his nine months in office assuring congregation of his pedantic focus on the delivery of quality leadership to the university of mkar with staff welfare as a top priority.
Highlights of the occasion were the strategic coordination of activities during the meeting by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Samson Abekhale, snapping of group pictures, music and light refreshments.
